Walking around the Auckland Home Show 2014 provided a myriad of ideas. There were a number of directional trends and these were portrayed in a variety of products that inspired home owners who were on the hunt for inspiration. One of the biggest trends I came across was pattern and texture adorning so many products.

New technology has provided the ability to print onto pretty much any substrate, making products like tiles out of the ordinary. Geometric middle eastern inspired prints on tiles, and a play on graffiti were two of the amazing products on display from Tile Warehouse.

Copper products were in full view, even a gold copper metallic painted kitchen, by Gold Kitchens bought the spotlight on Copper through, as well as seen in lighting and décor on show.

Pattern on pattern was explored on our stand in Hall 2, which created a show stopper. Digitally printed floral velvets and wallpaper being a talking point as it polarised opinions into love and hate!! Our aim was to create a stand that side-stepped mediocrity!

We had a bit of fun catching up with Peter Wolfcamp, “The Block” building Guru, and Newstalk ZB’s “Sundays with the Resident Builder” Talkback host. The check shirt completely clashed with our velvet florals…but we are working on him!!
